On 26 November 2016 the HAKATON: Citizens in Medicine project took place, organized by the Copernicus Science Center and Medical University of Warsaw. The participants were given a problem in the medicine field, which required a creative solution.
This time engineers and doctors had to propose a method to improve the medical procedure used by fetal surgeons saving lives of children with diaphragmatic hernia during the fetal period.
The winning project – FetoInduktor, a valve based on a special composite – has a chance to create, implement and disseminate all over the world as an innovative, completely safe and simple solution. More information about the invention can be found on the event’s website. (Polish version only)
The winning team includes a member of the MaterialsCare team, mgr inż. Bartłomiej Wysocki, and other inventors: mgr inż. Adrian Chlanda (PW), Karolina Chełchowska (WUM), inż. Karol Czechowicz (PW, lek. Bartosz Godek (WUM), dr inż. Marcin Heljak (PW) and lek. Agnieszka Ruta (WUM).
